About The Role

This role is a fixed term post until June 2023.  Working hours will be Monday – Friday, 37 hours per week, which will include at least one evening per week and some weekends.

The Engagement and Participation Support Worker will operate on an outreach basis using the hub and spoke model, and will deliver services within co-locations including schools, YJS, youth clubs, CAMHS as well as the clinical hub. Taking direction from the Team Leader, the support Worker will support universal health promotion across the two strands of adolescent health of substance misuse and sexual health, including delivery of PSHE in schools and at youth clubs, facilitating information assemblies, supporting assertive outreach, supporting service users and young people’s engagement, and representing Compass at community events. Support workers will also work closely with Practitioners to engage, re-engage, follow-up and advocate for young people who are ambivalent to change or have barriers to engagement based on vulnerabilities or coming from a hard-to-reach group. They will also support the digital engagement functions of the service. Activities include; Universal, Targeted and Specialist services.

 

About You

As an Engagement and Participation Support Worker, you will: 

  • Have experience of working with at risk/vulnerable young people in a community setting
  • Be able to deliver behaviour change support, including group work
  • Be knowledgeable about: safeguarding children, confidentiality, consent and mental capacity, contraception, STI’s, and risk-taking behaviours
  • Adopt a flexible approach to work, hours and locations

Commissioned by Tower Hamlets Council, this a highly innovative service which delivers a range of universal, targeted and specialist health and wellbeing interventions to young people across Tower Hamlets. The evidence-based interventions address young people’s support needs with regards to two strands of service care focused around sexual health and substance use, and any associated risky behaviour, in order to improve health and wellbeing.
