About The Role

Are you passionate about making a real difference in your community? Do you want to help children, young people and families feel supported, valued and able to thrive?

Join Compass as a Children, Young People and Families Volunteer and be part of a team that promotes health, wellbeing and positive change.

As a volunteer, you may be involved in community outreach, taking vital health and wellbeing information into local areas and ensuring families can access the right help at the right time. This might include collecting and delivering resources, signposting people to services, or simply being a friendly and reassuring presence when they need it most.

You could also support resource creation, working alongside Compass colleagues to develop and share materials that improve emotional health and wellbeing. These might be printed guides, online tools or creative activities that give children and families practical ways to feel more confident and resilient.

There will be opportunities to take part in peer support and group activities, helping to run sessions that bring people together to share experiences, build relationships and learn from one another. Your involvement could make a real difference to someone who needs to feel understood and less alone.

Finally, you may assist with health and wellbeing interventions, contributing to group-based activities that encourage healthier lifestyles and positive mental wellbeing. This could mean supporting workshops, joining in physical activities, or helping create a safe and welcoming environment where people feel able to participate.

Every part of this role is about connection, encouragement and making a positive impact, giving your time to help others feel stronger, more supported and more hopeful for the future.

Help us build brighter futures!

About You

We are looking for someone who is motivated, flexible and committed to supporting others. You will bring:

  • A warm and welcoming manner, with the ability to be reliable, punctual and trustworthy
  • Understanding and empathy for the challenges faced by disadvantaged families and carers, and a non-judgemental approach to working with people from all backgrounds
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage effectively with colleagues, young people and families
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and respect privacy at all times

Above all, you will share our values of integrity, valuing every individual and being solution focused. You will work collaboratively, support others and always strive to make a positive difference.
