You will deliver short term low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) informed interventions for children and young people aged 5 -19 years with anxiety, low mood, common challenging behaviours, family and peer relationship difficulties, difficulty adjusting to change or managing emotions in educational settings. Trainee EMHP’s will also work with educational staff to build on and develop evidenced-based Whole School Approaches.
Trainee EMHP’s must undertake a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Practice in Education Settings, a degree Level 7 qualification at GMMH Psychological Therapies Training Centre, Prestwich commencing September 2024. You will be required to undertake training two days per week whilst working within the team 3 days per week.
On successful completion of training, Trainee EMHP’s will be equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and capabilities and work as a qualified EMHP as autonomous and responsible practitioners within their scope of practice. Alongside education colleagues, delivering schools’ overarching approach to providing mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people.
You will have to demonstrate in your application that you have the ability to study at degree level or have an equivalent level of relevant experience. Experience of working with children and young people and an understanding of the educational system in England is desirable.
