About The Role

As a Training and Consultation Worker in  Compass Phoenix, North Yorkshire, you will play a central role in helping schools strengthen their approach to emotional wellbeing and mental health. By delivering engaging training packages, you will equip staff with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate emotional wellbeing and mental health needs.

Your work will  include providing professional consultation and coaching, guiding teachers and school teams to develop practical strategies tailored to individual pupils. Every conversation, training session and piece of guidance you deliver will help staff feel more prepared and young people feel more supported.

This is a role where partnership matters as you will collaborate with schools, and contribute to a whole school approach that enables schools to make wellbeing visible, accessible and effective. From safeguarding responsibilities to signposting evidence-based resources, you will be part of a service that ensures every child and young person gets the right help at the right time.

An integral part of the role is responding to young people on BUZZ US. This is our confidential text messaging service for young people aged 11-18.

This is a remote role, with occasional travel to meetings across North YorkshireWorking hours are Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 4.30pm.

About You

You believe in the power of early intervention and feel confident supporting professionals to better support children and young people. You bring warmth, integrity and a calm, solution focused approach, even when conversations are complex.

You will bring:

  •  A recognised qualification in mental health or work with children and young people (e.g. Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, counselling, or NVQ Level 4 equivalent)
  •  Experience of delivering training packages • Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks including Gillick competence and mental capacity
  •  Experience of inter-agency and multi-disciplinary working
  •  Understanding of emotional wellbeing, mental health and psychosocial interventions
  •  Strong communication skills, able to build relationships with schools, professionals, and young people
  •  Confidence managing sensitive information, risk and safeguarding responsibilities

It would also be helpful, but not essential, if you bring experience of delivering group or individual interventions with children and young people.
