About The Role

Compass is delighted to provide Mental Health Support Teams in education settings across West/North Birmingham (Handsworth, Lozells, Aston, Ladywood, Erdington) serving the children, young people and families and communities.

If you have the passion and drive deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and the community read on.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Compass’ new Mental Health Support Team supporting Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) leading on the delivery of digital interventions (i.e. OSI, Silvercloud, NVR), coaching CYPF through the programmes via frequent ‘check ins’ to provide encouragement, monitor progress and continuously review presenting needs.

The Digital Consultation & Training Practitioner will deliver training packages to schools with the aim of increasing staff confidence and competence in dealing with their CYP’s low level mental health needs in an education setting.

The role will work alongside colleagues to develop Compass’ Wave 12 MHST’s, building positive partnerships with education settings and other CYPF services to drive  highly effective and CYPF focussed mental health and wellbeing services in line with the national MHST operating framework.

About You

Compass Birmingham MHST (Wave 12) is a brand new early intervention and preventative mental health and emotional wellbeing service. The service delivers evidenced based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs.

The service is part of the national MHST Programme, which has been commissioned following the ‘Transforming Children and Young People’s Mental Health Care Provision: A Green Paper’ (2017).  

You will be a values-driven (integrity, valuing each individual, solution focused, consistent and reliable) individual with a passion for supporting children, young people and families mental health and wellbeing. You will also have:

  • Qualification in mental health or working with children & young people such as; Diploma in Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology or accredited counselling or equivalent NVQ level 4 in children, young people or families, social care or mental health
  • Experience of facilitating individual/group work with children, young people, or young adults
  • Experience of developing and delivering high- quality training packages to professional including education staff

Due to the nature of the role there is a need to travel to individual schools and community settings, which will require a driving license and access to a vehicle (for individuals who cannot drive due to a disability, we can consider accessibility options i.e. provided via Access to Work etc).
