About The Role

Are you passionate about improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people?

As a Whole School Approach Practitioner, you’ll play a key role in creating supportive school environments that prioritise mental health. Working alongside Supervising Practitioners in Mental Health Support Teams (MHST), you’ll embed the eight principles of emotional wellbeing across schools to drive lasting positive change.

In this dynamic role, you’ll design and deliver workshops and activities for students and staff, coordinate engaging psychoeducation sessions, and organize initiatives to promote staff wellbeing. You’ll empower school communities to better understand and address mental health challenges while supporting audits, action plans, and resources tailored to each school’s unique needs. Every voice, from students to Senior Mental Health Leads (SMHLs), will help shape your impactful work.

Collaboration will be central to your success. You’ll develop school-wide strategies with stakeholders, strengthen mental health networks, and lead the creation of Wellbeing Champions who advocate for positive mental health. Your efforts will enhance the confidence and competence of school staff, equipping them to support the emotional wellbeing of their students.

Join us in this fulfilling role to transform schools into thriving spaces. Together, we’ll create meaningful and lasting change for children, young people, and the educators who guide them.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings expertise, enthusiasm, and a collaborative spirit to this rewarding role. To make an impact in this role you’ll need:

  • A foundation degree in a relevant field or equivalent skills, knowledge, and experience.
  • A solid understanding of mental health and emotional wellbeing challenges affecting children, young people, and families.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding guidance, confidentiality, consent, mental capacity, and data protection laws.
  • Experience working in or with educational settings and delivering psychoeducation to children, young people, families, and staff.
  • An understanding of the Whole School Approach to mental health and the ability to use data to identify and address local needs.
  • Strong computer literacy alongside excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities.
  • The ability to teach and raise mental health awareness in school settings, empowering others to make a difference.
  • Access to your own transport or evidence of efficient commuting between venues.

Experience in delivering pastoral support or Personal Social Health Education in schools, a teaching qualification, or familiarity with navigating complex social systems would be desirable.

At Compass, we’re guided by our values: integrity, valuing each individual, reliable and consistent whilst adopting a solution-focused approach.

If you share our passion for driving meaningful change, we’d love to hear from you!
