About The Role

As our new Health Data Analyst, you’ll play a vital role in helping Compass have a strategic, effective and efficient approach to the capture and storage, management and quality improvement, ongoing reporting, analysis and interpretation of health data.

Working in our central Data Insights and Intelligence Team, you’ll work closely with internal teams (emotional wellbeing, mental health, school nursing, sexual health and substance misuse) and external partners (including NHS and Local Authority health service commissioners).

Your work will underpin everything from mandatory health data reporting including submissions like the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS), to internal and external performance reporting, to service improvement, to strategic planning.

To effectively do this, you will:

  • Routinely rely on Power BI, SQL, Dax and Python to efficiently deliver key data outputs and products.
  • Develop, implement and manage health information systems (e.g. Iaptus, EMIS and Theseus)
  • Monitor and improve health data quality
  • Ensure that information governance is upheld at all times
  • Proactively solve health data and information problems and issues

About You

To be successful in this role, as a minimum, you should share with us how you meet the following key essential criteria:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification or equivalent NHS experience
  • Experience working with health data in the NHS, local government or voluntary sector
  • Experience of NHS reporting for contract management/ performance improvement
  • In depth knowledge and experience of working with health related datasets
  • Experience of accurate and timely completion of mandatory health information returns
  • Working with clinical systems
  • Experience of supporting the analysis and interpretation of complex health and population information and presenting it in an accessible manner
  • Proficient in Power BI, Excel, DAX, Python and SQL
  • Strong knowledge of Caldicott GuidelinesData Quality Standards and UK GDPR

In addition, the following key desirable criteria will help you thrive:

Knowledge of Public Health priorities, experience of using Power BI to develop data models and report content, high level statistical analysis and interpretation skills, strategic thinking skills. An understanding of NHS priorities and a passion for using data to improve services for children, young people and families will also set you apart.
